The MicroMillions Marathon Series is finally over. PokerStars announced the event last week, allowing participants to play poker tournaments without breaking their budgets.
The four-day event was scheduled for April 20 to April 23, 2023. There were 84 affordable games squeezed in four days.
While the event was designed for low-stakes players, most were fixated on winning a five-figure prize from playing the Main Event for a buy-in of $22.
This saw a rise in the number of entrants in the Main Event. This led to a prize pool of $397,400.
Thousands of players went home with a slice of the prize pool. The Main Event featured a progressive knockout format. This meant that most knocked-out players would at least go home with a piece of the cake.
Ideally, over 3,200 players won some money. Moreover, the top nine players won over $2,130 each.
Finishing in ninth place, Jupitle from Brazil won $2,139. JDM211 finished in eighth place, pocketing $2,653.
Garrafalitro followed with $3,799 and bartuxas with $4,144. This left five players who were ready to square away until the champion of the MicroMillions Marathon Main Event was declared.
The Final Five
Unfortunately, Mariachi did not stay long before leaving the final table. Fortunately, the player pocketed a much higher prize of $6,825.
BlackStyle11 would not leave Mariachi alone in the cold for much longer. The player busted to join Mariachi with $9,498. For players that spent $22, this was a generous income.
This left the top three players on the final table. Greedyim from Belarus was not too greedy to stay longer. The player was satisfied with earnings of $11,138, leaving the field to GarbielSMR and sokoban4ik.
The two battled it out for a while before sokoban4ik won the game. He won $28,858, leaving GarbielSMR with $17,980 to take home.
MicroMillions Marathon High roller
The MicroMillions Marathon would have been incomplete without a high-roller event. This was a $55 buy-in event with a guaranteed prize pool of $250k. With over 5,800 entries, the prize pool jumped to $292,950.
Several PokerStars members participated in the event. Unfortunately, none of them made it to the top to cash out.
Around 830 players got a share of the prize pool. Those that made it to the final table won at least $2,775.
Meanwhile, zagaz124 took home a whopping $41,637. They were the MicroMillions Marathon High Roller table winner. Curioso24 came in second with $29,677.
The top two players gave an amazing heads-up game show. They also represented Peru so well.
Jahwe won $10,749, taking fifth place, olleggi won $15,080, while jooa42 took third place with $21,155 in their pocket. This completed the top five winners.
The other four players completing the top nine include Emir XO, who won $7,662, and FKAXM, the winner of $5,462. orebit7 won $3,893, and koelnrome won $2,775, taking the eighth and ninth places, respectively.
There are more low-stakes poker tournaments scheduled for the remaining part of the year. Meanwhile, high-stakes players can also expect incredible action-packed events, such as the 2023 SCOOP event, for the rest of the year.
