The Boston Red Sox will travel to San Diego on Saturday to take on the San Diego Padres. The Red Sox and Padres have been playing decent baseball to start the season, despite both of them sitting in fourth place in their respective divisions. However, Boston has been playing much better record-wise, as they come in at 25-20, and the Padres come in at 20-25.
There’s something to be said about the Padres, as they were looking to be one of the better teams in baseball in the earlier part of the season. Unfortunately, they’ve now only won two out of their last ten games, and it’s been a major call for concern. The offense, once again, isn’t producing, and with that lineup, it doesn’t make much sense.
The sportsbooks believe that the Padres will bounce back in this one, and it wouldn’t be surprising, given that Joe Musgrove is going to be on the mound. The right-hander has thrown well for the majority of his career. The Padres come in at -130 on the moneyline and +160 on the run line.
Can Boston Win Another Series?
When looking at the season that the Boston Red Sox have had this season, it’s tough to say that anybody should be worried about what they’re doing. Despite being 7.5 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East, Boston is still five games over .500 and has played considerably well to start the year.
They’ve had some impressive wins throughout their past ten games, as they just won a series against the Seattle Mariners and can do the same thing tonight with a win against the Padres. They won the first game 6-1 and had multiple guys that were able to produce at a high level. Rafael Devers continues hitting as he knocked in four RBIs.
What’s Going On in San Diego?
The struggles for the San Diego Padres truly don’t make sense. It’s obvious why they’re struggling when watching them because their offense can’t do much, but with the lineup that this team has, it’s insane to say that they’re struggling on that side of the baseball.
With Xander Bogaerts, Fernando Tatis, Juan Soto, and many others, this was expected to be the best lineup in all of baseball. Unfortunately for them, it looks to be one of the worst to start the season. They had a few weeks where they were really putting it all together, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to stay consistent for now.
If San Diego can’t figure it out on the offensive side of the baseball, they’re not going to be the team that they want to be this season. The pitching is above average for the most part, but the offense was going to be the driving force to this team winning a championship.
Boston Red Sox at San Diego Padres Betting Preview Prediction
Because this game is going to be played in San Diego and Joe Musgrove is going to be on the mound, backing the Padres in this game doesn’t seem to be a bad idea. They need to bounce back eventually, and this could be a good spot for them to do exactly that.
