Miami Heat @ Denver Nuggets Game Two Betting Preview
After what looked to be a promising, competitive NBA Finals, the Nuggets took care of business on their home court in the opening game, and now the Miami Heat are looking for a chance to bounce back and even the series.
After an astonishing Eastern Conference Finals for both Jimmy Butler and Caleb Martin, the two players regressed in a big way in game one against Denver.
The number one rule of every NBA playoffs is to not overreact to the first game of the series, but it can be very easy to change the perception with how dominant Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray looked.
The Nuggets were able to score completely at will, and it made the Heat forced to go back to the drawing board to figure out a new strategy in addition to refining their zone defense.
Ahead of the action on Sunday night, the Nuggets draw another heavy favorite on their home court at -9 where they are undefeated on the season.
Role Players Finding Their Place in the Offense Again
The biggest change from the series against the Celtics and what was seen in game one against the Nuggets was the consistency of the role players.
Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin, and Max Strus all gave a terrible showing. The three of them were essential to the offense against Boston and were absolute no-shows in this opening game.
For the Heat to have any chance of winning this series as the underdog, they are going to have to get contributions from every man on their roster.
For starters, though, Jimmy Butler is going to have to muster up that killer instinct that we saw for the first 10-12 games of the playoffs.
An Unstoppable Duo in Jokic and Murray
With the way that these two have shown up in the postseason when they are fully healthy, Jokic and Murray are certainly going to have to be in consideration for the best duo in the league.
Murray’s shot-making ability off of some of the Jokic screens is a filthy business, and he even was able to step his passing up and generate a lot of assists.
It made the entire Nuggets’ offense look like a well-oiled machine beside the opening few minutes of the fourth quarter. Cleaning up that one little section of their play when the Heat went on a run will showcase why the Nuggets are the best team in the league.
Heat @ Nuggets Betting Prediction
The scariest part of this series is that the Nuggets shot extremely poorly from three to open this series, and they still ended up winning by double digits.
Every shot they created with their offense was a good shot, and the decision-making was razor-sharp.
It is going to be an uphill battle for the Heat to try and win this battle, but the Nuggets should be able to take care of business on their home floor again to get the win at -9.
