The 2023 WSOP $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship Earns Mike Gorodinsky $422,747 and His Third Bracelet

Mike Gordonisky was the last player seated at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship. He won $422,747 and his third gold bracelet after beating 184 opponents.

The player won his first WSOP bracelet during the 2013 WSOP $2,500 Omaha Eight-or-Better and Stud Eight-or-Better tournament. He bagged the second bracelet in the 2015 WSOP $50,000 Poker Players Championship and made a $1.3 million score, the highest in his professional career.

Gorodinsky’s latest victory increased his lifetime poker earnings to almost $4.3 million, out of which he won $3.4 million in the WSOP. He garnered 840 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points and 423 PokerGO Tour (PGT) points. So, he is among the leading 35 players on the PGT leaderboard.

The $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. lasted for four days and had a $1,720,500 prize pool that its top 28 entrants shared. Some of those who won money and missed a seat at the final table were Jerry Wong, Brandon Shack-Harris, Phil Hui, John Racener, Phil Hellmuth, Esther Taylor, Roman Verenko, and David ‘Bakes’ Baker.

How Things Unfolded on the Final Day

Gorodinsky was among the stack leaders early in the final day, while Christopher Claassen was the short stack. Claassen exited the event in seventh place with $58,633.

Carol Fuchs faced Brian Yoon’s two pair that improved on seventh street to kings full of queens. But, Fuchs missed the low and left the table in the sixth position.

Scott Seiver got in a tricky spot after Gorodinsky beat him at an Omaha eight-or-better pot. The former’s (5-2)7 faced the latter’s (J-2)A on third street. Gorodinsky’s J-10-4-2-A beat Seiver’s J-10-7-5-2 and sent him packing in fifth place.

Yoon clashed with Gorodinsky’s three diamonds in heads-up action with split kings. The latter had a queen-high flush on fifth street, leaving the former with less than a big wager after improving to eights and kings on seventh. Yoon called off his stack and exited the event in fourth place.

Gorodinsky won the pot using a pair of nines and eliminated Ruben in third place. The former had a 10,005,000:1,095,000 stack advantage over Alexander Livingston when their heads-up action began. Yet, Gorodinsky’s jacks earned him the title and pot while ending Livingston’s run in second place with $261,278.
