The Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox are set to play their final game of a three-game series at Fenway Park on Thursday. Texas won the first game, and then the Red Sox battled back and won Game two on Wednesday by a score of 4-2. The Rangers are now 51-36 on the season but still leading the American League West. For Boston they are 44-43 on the season but remain in last place in the American League East.
The Texas Rangers are favorites on the road here. Texas is listed at -140, while the Red Sox are at +120. The total for these two teams is set at ten runs.
Rangers Looking to Get on Track
The Texas Rangers are in a little bit of a slump. Despite still leading the American League West, the Rangers have dropped five out of their last seven games. In those five losses, the Rangers have allowed 34 runs and scored 24.
Offensively has not been an issue for the Rangers. Texas is the top-scoring team in all of Major League Baseball, and their .274 batting average is also the best. Leody Taveras and Adolis Garcia lead the offense that also has Josh Jung and Jonah Heim playing well. Garcia has 22 home runs and drove in 71 runs.
The Rangers will send 33-year-old Nathan Eovaldi to the mound. The right-hander from Houston has ten wins on the season, which is at the top of the American League leaderboard. Eovaldi has a 2.64 earned run average and has struck out 106 batters over 112.1 innings. In his last start, he shut down the Astros through seven innings and picked up the win.
Boston Sends Crawford to the Mound
Kutter Crawford is going to get the start for the Boston Red Sox. The 27-year-old will be making his 9th start of the season. In 57.1 innings, Crawford has allowed 51 hits and 25 earned runs. Crawford has struck out 55 and walked 12. He went 5.2 innings in his last start and allowed just two earned runs at Toronto. Crawford has made his last three starts on the road.
Despite being in last place, the Red Sox have played good baseball as of late. The Red Sox have won four out of their last five games. During those four wins, they are allowing just three runs per game. Pitching has been a downfall for Boston this season, as they are 20th in the league in earned run average, with a 4.42.
Offensively, the Red Sox have held their own, as they are 8th in runs and 6th in team batting average. Justin Turner helped the offense in the 4-2 win on Wednesday with two hits and two runs batted in.
Rangers Get Back on Track with Win
The Texas Rangers are in first place for a reason. They will find that reason and get the bats going in the series finale on Thursday—big offensive game for Texas. The Rangers win this game over the Red Sox. Bet Texas -140 over Boston.
