The Major League Baseball season is now approaching the trade deadline. The trade deadline each season is a time when the odds of winning the World Series change a little, based on the activity of the teams and their additions or even subtractions to the team.
Let’s take a look at the Up to Date Betting Odds to win the 2023 World Series before the trade deadline.
Atlanta Braves +330
The Braves have the National League front runner for Most Valuable Player, front runner for Cy Young, and have the best record in all of baseball. Atlanta has hit the most home runs in all of baseball and the biggest divisional lead.
All those things add up to why Atlanta is the favorite to win the 2023 World Series. Can Atlanta stay red hot through October is the biggest question mark at this point.
Los Angeles Dodgers +550
The Dodgers have taken over first place in the National League West. Los Angeles is still without Clayton Kershaw.
Despite some of his postseason failures of the past, they still could use the three-time Cy Young award winner. Los Angeles is getting plenty of clutch hitting, and like always – Dave Roberts’ team is throwing the baseball well.
The Dodgers should win the National League West and settle in as the #2 seed in the National League.
Tampa Bay Rays +600
The Rays have seen the Baltimore Orioles close the gap between the two teams in the American League East. Shane McLanahan is back for the Rays, and he is a must-have if this team wants to make a postseason run.
Offensive guys like Randy Arozarena and Wander Franco are having big seasons for Tampa. Many worry about their ability to hit in the postseason, which is why their odds are below the two National League teams.
Houston Astros +800
The defending World Series Champions do not seem to be in any hurry to make a push at the Rangers in the American League West. Dusty Baker and his crew would much rather figure out how they are going to improve their starting pitching.
The Astros need more innings out of their starters, or the bullpen is going to be run into the ground by the time the postseason comes around. Good thing for Houston – they haven’t really even started hitting their offensive stride yet in 2023,
Texas Rangers +1200
One of the best stories in all of Major League Baseball. Texas was well represented at the All-Star Game. Which story on the Rangers roster is the best one? Adolis Garcia? Jonah Heim? Marcus Semien. Regardless, this team is having a great season and is fun to watch.
Many worry about their pitching come October, but Mike Maddux was brought over to help Bruce Bochy for a reason. There is no doubt they’ll have a plan.
Toronto Blue Jays +1300
This is a team many should look out for. The Blue Jays are getting their projected ace back, and he looks to at least be improving. The Blue Jays can hit and really haven’t lived up to expectations yet.
If the offense clicks and they continue to get good starting pitching in the postseason, this will be a team you do not want to face. Look out for Toronto, and their 13/1 odds seem interesting to give a second look to.
