In interleague play – the New York Mets head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles Saturday in the second game of a three-game series.
The Orioles won the first game of the series easily on Friday night; Baltimore scored four in the 6th and four more in the 7th to win the game. The Orioles are now 68-42 on the season, while the Mets have dropped to 50-59. Baltimore is in first place in the American League East, while the Mets remain in fourth in the National League East.

Mets Continue to Struggle in 2023

The Mets are scheduled to send Tylor Megill to the mound. The 28-year-old has been up and down the big league team this season but overall has a 6-4 record and a 5.17 earned run average. Megill has not pitched with the Mets since he was shelled for five runs in just 2.1 innings on June 21st in Houston. Megill has made 42 career starts.
Veteran Gibson Takes the Mound for Baltimore
Kyle Gibson will take the baseball for Baltimore. The 35-year-old is putting together a decent season in 2023. Gibson is 10-6 on the season, with a 4.53 earned run average.
The right-hander from Indiana has 108 strikeouts on the season in more than 130 innings. Gibson beat the Blue Jays in his last start, going six innings and allowing just a single run.
The Orioles scored just ten runs in the win on Friday night but hit just one home run. The team had 12 hits, with eight of them being singles. Jordan Westbrug was the lone home run hitter for Baltimore, and he drove in three. James McCann had a monster game for the Orioles, as he led the team with five runs batted in on Friday.
Baltimore continues to play fantastic baseball, as they are scoring just under five runs per game. The Orioles have hit 126 home runs, which is right in the middle of the pack in Major League Baseball.
Baltimore has five guys with double-digit home runs, with Anthony Santander leading the way with 19, while Gunnar Henderson has 18.
Baltimore Wins Saturday’s Tilt
The Baltimore Orioles -1.5 (+105) is the way to go with this game. The Mets do not have much left in the bullpen and simply cannot slug with the Orioles.
