PokerStars has thrived in the United States poker industry for a long period. Still, it is determined to increase its shares in the North American market.
The poker operator launched PokerStars Ontario in 2022. Yet, it has created the North America Championship of Online Poker (NACOOP) constituting Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, and Ontario.
The “COOP” series isn’t new, as PokerStars has run it on its U.S. platforms for a while. However, the new poker festival will play simultaneously using one brand.
NACOOP will take place between September 15 and October 2. It features more than $7 million in prize money, three player pools, and over 260 distinct tournaments. Besides being a competitive series, the winner will take home a 24-karat Gold NACOOP Main Event trophy.
The Three Jurisdictions
This is PokerStars’ first time to merge its North American “COOP” poker series under one brand, NACOOP. PokerStars US has a shared liquidity between the Michigan and New Jersey player pools that allow local players to compete in NACOOP tournaments. So, the NJ-MI Championship, which PokerStars labels USCOOP, will have a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
PokerStars PA will offer PACOOP with a $2.5 million guaranteed pool. Canadian poker players will join NACOOP through ONCOOP on PokerStars Ontario with a $1.5 million guaranteed pool. The NACOOP will comprise tournaments in various poker formats and variations like Mixed Games, Seven Card Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw, Razz, and Omaha.
What Will Be the Buy-Ins
PokerStars disclosed in NACOOP’s launch that the series’ buy-ins will range from $10 and exceed $2500. The Main Event will culminate in the Championship. It will have a $300 buy-in in each liquidity pool.
Pennsylvania will have a $250,000 guarantee, while New Jersey and Michigan will have a $350,000 guarantee each. Each jurisdiction will award winners 20 trophies during the Championship.
A $2,500 High Roller Championship will be held, targeting professional players who are high stakers. The New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania pools will have a $150,000 guarantee each. PokerStars will soon release more information about the championship, and it will kick off in three weeks.
How Can a Player Sign Up for NACOOP?
Many poker players are eagerly awaiting NACOOP to try their luck in different tournaments. Reports indicate that PokerStars will run a few satellites several weeks before the poker festival kicks off for the Main Event.
Still, other tournaments will have affordable buy-in starting at $1, hence offering many players opportunities to win trophies and other coveted cash prizes.
Any player who is 18 years old and above living in Ontario, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania can sign up at their local PokerStars platform to compete in the upcoming festival. However, it is advisable to follow their region’s gaming legislation to receive prizes and trophies once they win any tournament.
