Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson Tide will head to Tampa on Saturday to play in a College Football affair against the South Florida Bulls.
The Crimson Tide are coming off a home loss to Texas. There is no doubt that the Crimson Tide were shocked to get beat up and down, especially at home. They will look to improve upon their 1-1 record in this one. For South Florida, the Bulls are also 1-1 after beating Florida A+M last week. In Week One, the Bulls lost on the road at Western Kentucky.
To no one’s surprise, the Alabama Crimson Tide are massive favorites in this game. Alabama is listed at -32 over the Bulls. The total for this game is set at 61.5 points.
Bulls Looking to Build
The season moral for the South Florida Bulls in 2023 is to continue to build. Build one game at a time, regardless of the final score. Now, South Florida can build off a win. They will need all the positive vibes they can get with the Crimson Tide coming to town.
South Florida will need to step up their game on the defensive side. The Bulls have allowed 32.5 points per game, which ranks 111th in College Football.
The running game has been the story for the Bulls’ offense. South Florida ranks 11th in College Football with 241 yards per game. Most of that has come from their quarterback, Byrum Brown. Brown leads the team with 42 carries, 183 yards, and four touchdowns in the early going.
Brown has also thrown for 363 yards and four touchdowns as well. The top target for him has been Khafre Brown, with six receptions and 109 yards, two of them going for scores.
South Florida will see Alabama come and go and then await the Owls of Rice in their American Conference opener. Following that, the Bulls head out to Navy and UAB for back-to-back road games.
Crimson Tide Showing Growing Pains
The Alabama Crimson Tide are certainly showing some early season growing pains. The young quarterback Jalen Milroe has struggled at times in competing passes. He has a 76.6 QBR through two games, with five touchdowns and two interceptions. The sophomore won the starting job and will keep the starting job for now, but look for the leash to shorten.
Milroe is also the top rusher for the Crimson Tide. He is averaging 46 yards per game on the ground. Jermaine Burton is the ultimate target in the receiving game. Burton has caught five passes for 120 yards and two scores in the early going.
The Crimson Tide are playing their first road game of the season here. This is a game the Crimson Tide want to ensure they are not looking ahead. Alabama will host Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels in Week Four. The following two weeks are road games at Mississippi State and a trip to Texas A+M.
Crimson Tide Struggle; Bulls Cover
The Alabama Crimson Tide may have to make a quarterback change. Look for them to struggle a bit in this game. The struggles in this game will not matter, though.
South Florida is not very good and will not threaten to win this game. The point spread is too high for a team with as many question marks as Alabama has. While the Crimson Tide may win by four touchdowns, the spread of -32 is the question.
Bet the South Florida Bulls will come away covering the spread when they get together on Saturday.
