Game 2 of the best-of-three series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers will occur Wednesday evening. The Milwaukee Brewers started the game on Tuesday red-hot with a 3-0 lead.
Arizona bounced back and hit three home runs, chased Corbin Burnes in the fifth inning, and went along to win the game 6-3. It was a massive win for the Diamondbacks, who now have their best two pitchers available for the remainder of the season.
The Diamondbacks are the sixth seed in the National League Playoffs after just getting in over Chicago. The Milwaukee Brewers ran away with the National League Central title.
The winner of this series will head to Los Angeles and start a series against the Dodgers. Milwaukee is a small favorite at -130 in this game.
Young Diamondbacks Looking to Advance
Corbin Carroll got the offensive party started for the Diamondbacks in this one. Of course, he did. Carroll was the cog in the offense all season long; in a year, he will be named Rookie of the Year. His two-run home run started the offense off Burnes. The next better, Ketel Marte, hit a home run to tie the game.
In the next inning, Gabriel Moreno gave the Diamondbacks the lead, one they would keep. Christian Walker then drove in two runs in the 9th to add some insurance.
The Brewers peppered out 12 hits off Arizona pitching, but a combination of seven guys threw in the game, and after Pfaadt went 2.2 innings, no reliever gave up a run. Walker finished with three hits, while Carroll walked away with two.
Zac Gallen will get the baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gallen has been the staff ace for the Diamondbacks this season. He made 33 starts during the regular season and finished with a 17-9 record. Gallen’s ERA settled at 3.47 on the season. Over his last five starts, he has struck out 34 batters over 31.1 innings.
NL Central Champion on the Ropes
The Brewers are on the ropes. They know they had chances in the Game One loss, but could not get it done. They also did not get a great outing from their ace, Corbin Burnes.
Freddy Peralta is the announced starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. Peralta finished the season with a 12-10 record and a 3.86 earned run average. The 27-year-old struck out 210 batters in 165.2 innings.
The last time he pitched was on September 24th, when Miami bombed him. He allowed nine hits and four runs over three innings.
Arizona Eliminates Milwaukee
Look for the Arizona Diamondbacks to come out and play this game free and easy. The Diamondbacks are on the road, a win away from winning the series and heading to Los Angeles.
The Diamondbacks have the better pitcher going in this game. Sure, Peralta has been good, but Gallen has been better. Look for Gallen to have a great outing and keep the Brewers hitters off balance all game. In the end, the Arizona Diamondbacks win this game.
Take the Arizona Diamondbacks at +115 over the Milwaukee Brewers to win this game on Wednesday and wrap up the series.
