The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) released the state’s September gaming revenue. Its record indicates that Las Vegas casino operators raked in more money than in August.
The Strip Was the Leading Gaming Profit Generator
Las Vegas has 60 legal casinos that raked in $741.2 million last month. They increased the state’s total monthly revenue to almost $1.27 billion, which is 1.7 percent higher than that of September 2022. Furthermore, the gaming operators set a new September gaming revenue record.
Specific income from the Strip rose by 6.9 percent unlike in 2022. Yet, most of the state’s regulated gaming markets generated less revenue.
Laughlin had a stunning performance as it increased its revenue to $41.6 million by 6.4 percent. Unfortunately, North Las Vegas, downtown Las Vegas, Mesquite, and the Boulder Strip had a 9.4 percent decrease in revenue.
Clark County’s Operators Excelled
Nevada’s gaming revenue increased by 2.9 percent to $3.9 billion in Q1 of the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This was partly due to the introduction of casinos in Clark County in 2019. Still, the region’s operators made 3.6 percent more revenue totaling to $3.3 billion.
The Vegas strip’s income increased by 5.5 percent to $2.2 billion in Q1. Michael Lawton, NGCB’s Senior Economic Analyst stated that the state is making more gaming profits than before the global pandemic. He added that its casinos had a 20.1 percent revenue increase equal to $212.3 million last month compared to their September 2019 profit.
Even so, this was the state’s 31st consecutive month to rake in at least $1 billion a month from gaming. Vegas hosted unique tournaments that increased the number of players. They include the Caesars Palace’s Colosseum’s all-month “Weekends with Adele” and Lady Gaga’s performance in the Park MGM at Dolby Live from September 2 and 10, and September 28 and 30.
More Gamers Played Baccarat and Table Games
The state’s casinos recorded an increase in table games and baccarat players last month unlike in September 2022. They earned the operators more revenue despite placing fewer stakes.
Table games generated $456 million, which was 16.6 percent higher than in 2022. Yet, their stakes decline reduced by 4.4 percent to $2.9 billion.
Baccarat earned casinos $148.8 million in profit, an 85.8 percent increase unlike last year. Their stake decline dropped by 3.1 percent to $682.1 million. Nevertheless, the game had a 21.82 percent retention rate, unlike the 11.38 percent it had in 2022.
How Did Slot Perform?
NGCB’s report revealed that slot machines made $814.6 million in profit last month, 5.01 percent less than their September 2022 revenue. Coin-in slots generated $11.6 billion, 1.4 percent less than their September income.
Slot machines’ profit in September 2023 was 7.01 percent, unlike last year’s 7.28 percent. Still, they made 3 percent less revenue in the past four months.
Las Vegas slots raked in $383.1 million, 6.4 percent less than in 2022. Coin-in slots made $4.7 billion, hence a 3.7 percent drop.
