It’s Conference Championship Weekend! Some great games on tap, and we are excited for them. Let’s take a look at the big games this weekend:
New Mexico State Aggies +11 at Liberty Flames
The Conference USA title game is Friday night. This is a rematch of the September 9th game at Liberty, where the Flames won by two scores. The Aggies have won eight straight games, which includes a win over Auburn. Liberty is looking to move to 13-0 with the win. They currently are 25th in the latest Associated Press poll. It will be fun to see if the Flames can stay unbeaten, or the Aggies grab a big upset.
Oregon Ducks -9.5 vs. Washington Huskies
The Pac-12 title game is on Friday night. This is a rematch of the October battle in Seattle, where Washington won the game late. The Oregon Ducks with Bo Nix and the Washington Huskies with Michael Penix Jr are set for a great battle. The winner of this should be able to get into the College Football Playoff. Definitely if Washington wins for the second time. What a battle, with nearly double digit spread.
Miami OH Redhawks +8 vs. Toledo Rockets
The first game on Saturday features a pair of MAC teams. These two teams played on October 21st with the Rockets winning the game 21-17. Miami is 10-2 on the season, with four straight wins since that loss. The Rockets are 11-1, with their lone loss coming in narrow fashion to Illinois at the beginning of the season. This is going to be a fun one, but the offensive attack of Toledo should prove to be too much.
Oklahoma State Cowboys +13.5 vs. Texas Longhorns
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have had an odd season, but here they are. The Cowboys are 9-3, and have won back to back games. These two teams did not play in the regular season. This is the final season in the Big 12 for the Longhorns. They are looking to win their 12th game, and keep themselves in the discussion for the College Football Playoff. Which version of Oklahoma State will we get – the Cowboys that lost to South Alabama or the one that recently beat Oklahoma?
Boise State Broncos -3 vs. UNLV Running Rebels
The Mountain West Conference title game, where the Boise State Broncos made the title game after winning their final three games of the season. For UNLV, they got in despite their loss at home to San Jose State on Saturday. These two teams did not play in the regular season, and should be in for quite the battle in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Georgia Bulldogs -5 vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Two of the top teams in the country. After a miracle win for the Crimson Tide, they are still in the title picture. If they can upset Georgia, they will have an interesting resume as the weekend ends. For Georgia, it has been rinse, wash and repeat. The back to back national champions are looking to win another SEC title. The Bulldogs come into this game as a small favorite against the Crimson Tide in this epic battle.
SMU Mustangs +4 vs. Tulane Green Wave
The AAC title game features a 10-2 SMU squad and an 11-1 Tulane squad. The losses for the Mustangs came to Oklahoma and TCU, while the Green Wave saw their only loss to Ole Miss. This should be a tough battle with the passing attack of the Mustangs and the run game of the Green Wave. This will be quite the battle on Saturday afternoon.
Appalachian State Mountaineers +6.5 vs. Troy Trojans
The Sun Belt Conference title game sees the Mountaineers are underdogs against the Trojans. The Mountaineers are 8-4, while Troy is 10-2 on the season. Appalachian State got into the game with their win on November 18th over James Madison. The Dukes lost just one game and did not get into the title game, which is a big surprise.
Louisville Cardinals +3.5 vs. Florida State Seminoles
After the loss to Kentucky, the Cardinals will look to be the first team to beat the unbeaten Seminoles. Florida State is coming off the win over Florida in their last game. The Seminoles need a win to get into the College Football Playoff. This Atlantic Coast Conference game should be a competitive one/ The Cardinals are small underdogs here.
Michigan Wolverines -23 vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
The biggest spread of the weekend. Two great defensive teams, one great offensive team. The Michigan Wolverines are coming off the monster win at home over Ohio State. Iowa beat Nebraska late in the game. If this game gets going offensively, the Hawkeyes are in big trouble. The Wolverines, with a win, would seal their spot in the College Football Playoff.
