The Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks are slated to skate together on Friday in a National Hockey League tilt. Winnipeg is 34-15-5, and moving up the ladder in the Central Division, and the Western Conference. The Jets are coming off a 6-3 home win over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
For Chicago, they are dead last in all of the National Hockey League with their 33 points. While the Blackhawks recently broke their long losing streak, they have now lost back-to-back games. The most recent loss for Chicago came on Wednesday. In that game the Flyers beat them 3-1 in Chicago.
The Winnipeg Jets are -250 in this game. The total is 5.5. The Jets via the puck line are +104.
Contending Jets
Winnipeg has emerged as one of the contenders in the Western Conference. The Jets lost their first two games of the month; but scored just a single goal in those games. On the season, Winnipeg is scoring 3.06 per game. The defense has been the key for the Jets. They are the top defensive team in the league; allowing 2.35 per game.
Scoring wise for the Jets its Mark Scheifele, Sean Monahan and Josh Morrissey. Scheifele leads the team in points; with 47. Monahan is balanced with 18 goals and 22 assists, while Morrissey, from the defense also has 31 assists, to just 7 goals.
The Jets will head home after this game and host the Coyotes on Sunday. St. Louis comes to town on Tuesday, before a trip to Dallas to end the month. March will start with two more road games as they are at the Hurricanes and Sabres.
Bedard and the Blackhawks
Not much has gone well for the Chicago Blackhawks this season. Connor Bedard, the top pick in the draft, missed action from January 5th through February 15th. He came back and scored a point in each of his first three goals. Since his return, he has scored 6 points in four games.
Bedard leads the team with 39 points on the season. He is tied with Jason Dickinson with 17 goals, and he leads the team with 22 assists. The main issue for Chicago is the lack of offense around him. The Blackhawks are dead last, scoring just 2.07 goals per game.
Chicago will stay at home for three more games after this. The Red Wings come to town on Sunday, followed by a visit from the Avalanche on Thursday. Columbus starts the March schedule, and then a trip to Denver for a rematch against the Avalanche on March 4th.
Jets Top Blackhawks
This is not a fair fight. The game is in Chicago, but that does not matter. The Blackhawks are bad at home, as they are on the road. Chicago is young, inexperienced, and outside of a few of their top guys – they are not that talented. The Winnipeg Jets know they need to grab all the points they can get.
The Jets have no problem here. Winnipeg wins this game over Chicago. Bet the Jets -1.5 (+104) over the Blackhawks.
