In the National Hockey League, the Edmonton Oilers are on the road at the Dallas Stars on Thursday. This is Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The winner of this series will move on to the Stanley Cup Finals against the winner of the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.
The Edmonton Oilers come into this game coming off a thrilling 7 game series against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers went 49-27-6 during the regular season, which was second in the Pacific Division. The Oilers in the first round eliminated the Los Angeles Kings in five games.
For Dallas, they are the top seed in the Western Conference. The Stars beat the Vegas Golden Knights in 7 games in the first series, and then took down the Colorado Avalanche in six games. The Stars went 52-21-9 in the regular season, to win the Central Division.
The Dallas Stars are -130 at home over Edmonton. The total for this game is listed at 6.5 goals.
Final Hope for Canada
The Edmonton Oilers got off to a quick 3-0 start in the Game 7 win at Vancouver. Cody Ceci scored his second of the postseason, followed by Zach Hyman’s 11th, and then a third in the period from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton did not score in the third period, and held on for a 3-2 win.
The Oilers have been great on the offensive side. In their four wins, they scored 15 total goals. That goes along with their 3.56 goals per game in the regular season. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both have been incredible. Draisaitl has recorded a point in all 12 postseason games so far.
McDavid did not record a point in Game 7, but had three assists in Game 6. During the regular season, he scored 32 goals and had 100 assists. Goaltender Stuart Skinner has made the last two starts, and allowed just three goals on 32 shots.
Top Seeded Dallas Stars
Jake Oettinger saved 29 shots, and Dallas scored one in the third and one in overtime to eliminate Colorado. Jamie Benn tied the game early in the third, and then Matt Duchene ripped the game winner at 11:42 in overtime. It was Benn’s third of the postseason, and the 2nd for Duchene.
Dallas has been one of the top scoring teams in the league all season. But, in the postseason, it has been the defense. In the four wins, the Stars allowed just 6 total goals. In the series against Vegas, they won the four games, and allowed just 7 goals.
The offense for Dallas is led by Jason Robertson. Robertson had 7 assists in the series against the Avalanche. Veteran Joe Pavelski has also been a key cog in the offense, as he was second during the regular season with 67 points.
Stars Top Oilers in Game 1
The Dallas Stars are a little more rested than Edmonton. The Oilers had a series that went the distance, and seemed to be quite taxing on them. We like Dallas to get ahead in this game, and stay ahead.
The final bet for this game is the Dallas Stars -130 over the Edmonton Oilers. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your National Hockey League games!
