The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics are set for Game 2 of the best of 7 series. This is the NBA Finals, with the winner taking home the crowd as the 2023-2024 champion. The Boston Celtics lead the series 1-0 after a blowout win on Thursday.
The Dallas Mavericks got off to a slow start, trailing by 17 after one, and 21 at halftime. They rallied a bit, but it was nowhere near enough. Dallas started the postseason with a 50-32 record, which was fifth in the West. Dallas eliminated the Clippers, the Thunder and the Timberwolves in the postseason.
For Boston, they have been the best team in the league all season. Boston won 64 regular season games, and ran away with the conference. The Celtics took down the Miami Heat in the first round, and then Cleveland in the second round. In the Eastern Conference Finals, Boston swept the Indiana Pacers.
The Boston Celtics are once again favorites in this game. Boston is listed at -7.5 over Dallas. The total for this game is set at 214.5.
Dallas Down 1-0
Dallas will need more from Kyrie Irving. Known as the counterpart for Luka Doncic, the former Duke Blue Devils star had just 12 points in the game. Irving went just 6 of 19 from the field as well. Doncic led the team with 30 points, and also 10 rebounds per game. Doncic also was the leading scorer in the NBA with 33.9 per game in the regular season.
PJ Washington has been strong for Dallas in the postseason. The former Hornets forward scored 14 in the loss on Thursday. Jaden Hardy scored 13 off the bench for Dallas, which was one of the bright spots.
During the regular season, the Mavericks scored 117.9 points per game. That ranked 7th in the league. The Mavericks made 14.6 three pointers a game, but were one of the worst free throw shooting teams. Dallas made just over 75% from the line.
Dominating Boston Celtics
It was great to see Kristaps Porzingis back for the Boston Celtics. After missing the entire month of May, Porzingis came back and played 20 minutes, and scored 20 points. He was 8 for 13 from the field and 2 for 4 from downtown. He was one of five guys for Boston scoring double digits in the game.
Jayson Tatum is the lead man for Boston, but did not need to do a ton in Game 1. He scored 16 points and 11 rebounds, but was relatively quiet. Jaylen Brown was the Eastern Conference Finals MVP, and he scored 22 points in this game. Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford combined for 37 points.
Boston was the second best scoring team in all of the National Basketball Association during the regular season. The Celtics scored 120.6 points per game. Boston also nailed 16.5 three point shots per game. The Celtics made 38.8% from downtown. The Celtics are also one of the best rebounding teams in the league, with 46.3 per game.
Celtics Smash Mavericks
The Boston Celtics are much better than the Dallas Mavericks. We do feel like Dallas will win a game in this series, but it is not going to be Game 2 in Boston. Game 1 may go a lot like Game 2.
The Celtics get ahead early and roll to a win here. Our final bet for this game is the Boston Celtics -7.5 over the Dallas Mavericks. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your NBA betting!
