The 2012 World Series of Poker continues and the most recent event to finish up was Event #41, a $3,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament. The event saw 1,394 players competing and in the end it was New York State native Greg Ostrander who earned the first place win.
Over three days, the field would be whittled down to two, Greg Ostrander and Jackie Glazier of Australia. The two would return on unscheduled day four to compete in heads up play.
When the two came in for heads up play, Glazier held a three to one chip advantage. Ostrander would have to fight hard to stay in the tournament and he did so, eventually taking the lead and knocking Glazier out in second place to earn the gold bracelet.
Ostrander would finally gain control by level 31 with the blinds at 50,000/100,000 and a 10,000 ante. Ostrander would double up a few times and eventually take the lead, with the chip stacks standing at 6.6 million to Ostrander and 6.1 million to Glazier.
Ostrander would further his lead to 8.2 million to Glazier’s 4.3 million chips after catching Glazier’s bluff. The final hand would go as follows: Ostrander would open with 200,000 and the big blind and would be called by Glazier. The flop would show Q-9-6. Both players would check and the 8 would come on the turn.
Glazier would check and then Ostrander would bet 450,000. Glazier would call again and an Ace on the river would see Glazier check. Ostrander bet once again, 1 million this time, and Glazier would go all in and would be called by Ostrander. Glazier showed 8-6 to have two pair and Ostrander showed 10-7 which gave him a straight and would earn the pot and the win!
