Lin Wins Texas Poker Open Main Event

The Texas Poker Open has been taking place down in Houston, and the Main Event was held on Monday, April 29th. This event has attracted some big names throughout the competition, and it was Ren Lin who came away with a win in the biggest event of them all.

735 players entered the Texas Poker Open Main Event that was held at the Champions Club in Houston. The buy-in for this event was $3,300, and it allowed Lin to walk away with a whopping $400,000 by taking home first place.

It has been a crazy few months for Lin on the live poker scene, and he is turning himself into a major player on the live poker scene. Back in December he was able to win over $1 million by finishing on top at the WPT Alpha8 that was held in Las Vegas.

There were some other big names competing at the final table with Lin, and that led to some terrific action along the way. The top five finishers were all able to win at least $103,000, but Lin was able to quadruple that win by finishing on top.

A Look at the Action

Players were being extremely aggressive throughout the entire tournament, and that trend only continued when it was time for the final table. Miguel Use was the first to bow out at the final table, but he still took home $40,000 by finishing in that position.

Ryan Reiss was also battling it out at the final table, and he won the WSOP Championship back in 2013. Reiss was not able to win a title in this event as he finished in eight place and took home $52,000.

There were some quick eliminations at the final table, and that was true when Daniel Holmes finished in fifth place with $103,000. Yunkyu Song didn’t last long after Holmes as it was a fourth place finish worth $133,000.

After Jonathan Tamayo finished in third place, it set the stage for some heads up action between Lin and Daniel Moran. Heads up play lasted just one hand after Moran went all-in right away and came up a bit short compared to the hand from Lin.

Moran was still able to take home $275,000 with a second place finish, but he didn’t even give himself a chance to win more money.

Other Results

The Main Event was the fourth tournament completed at the Texas Poker Open, and it was also the event that had the most attention. There were just 64 total participants in the other three tournaments, and that also kept the payouts to a minimum.

Victoria Livschitz won the first event at the Texas Poker Open, taking home $45,500 in the process. Aram Zobian has had a big year on the live poker scene, and he won close to $50,000 by winning the second tournament at this event.

The third tournament was won by Dan Sepiol, and that set the stage for a massive turnout in the Main Event.
