The Press of Atlantic City recently reported that the Caesars Entertainment Group is now looking to gain a license in the state of New Jersey with the intention of offering online gambling options. Caesars Interactive already operates overseas internet gaming websites as well as The World Series of Poker.
Seth Palansky, a Caesars Interactive Spokesman commented on the pursuit of a license by stating: “It’s the first of I’m sure many hurdles to cross.” Caesars Interactive submitted a license petition at the beginning of the month and if approved, the company would be able to provide online gambling options via their casinos located in New Jersey.
Caesars Interactive is owned, in majority by Caesars Entertainment who owns the Caesars Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City, Showboat Casino Hotel and the Harrah’s Resort. The company is already set with local operations and would only need to integrate online gambling options.
However, as of right now, the beginning of the online gambling in the state is not clear. The casinos in Atlantic City would have the option of internet gaming before the year’s end but regulations for the operation of the option have yet to be published. The Division of Gaming Enforcement has stated they do not know when regulations will be in place.
The World Series of Poker is the most well known option by Caesars Interactive but they plan on offering a full suite of casino games besides the obvious poker option. The company already has experience in the industry as they offer online casino games in the United Kingdom. Caesars is hoping to offer the same casino games for players in New Jersey as well. However, with the regulations not in place, it may be some time before the company can offer such games, if they have the approval for licensing.
