Aced Poker to Close July 1

AcedPICAced Poker, a member of the Merge Gaming Network, will close its doors on July 1, 2014.  All players will be moved to sister site Carbon Poker, which operates on the same network.  Aced players will automatically download the new platform the first time the software is launched after the move.

Aced opened on Merge Gaming in 2009.  WSOP Main Event bracelet winner Jamie Gold was its house pro at the time.  This relationship only lasted a few months.

Aced was acquired by Carbon Poker in 2010.  The Aced brand was kept alive until now, but it was not heavily marketed.

This is not the first time Carbon Poker has closed a brand and merged its players.  The online poker site shuttered its PDC Poker site in December 2012.  The PDC Poker brand alluded to the company’s original domain name, Poker.com.

Merge Gaming has shed most of its skins in the past 18 months.  Brands that have left the network during that time include RPM Poker, Hero Poker, FeltStars, Black Chip Poker and Poker Host.

Black Chip Poker moved to the Winning Poker Network.  Poker Host moved to Equity Poker.  Most of the other skins shut down with little or no notice.

Players on sites that did not move to other networks were absorbed by other Merge Gaming skins. Carbon Poker and Aced were generally the sites that accepted these players.

Remaining Merge Gaming skins include Carbon Poker, PlayersOnly, Sportsbook.ag and SuperBook.  These four sites share the same cashier.
