As part of a new global expansion strategy, Caesars Entertainment Corp has plans to create a non-gaming resort in Mexico. The company has recognized the potential the region offers via tourism and wants to spread their gaming empire with a focus on hospitality this time around.
Caesars just announced they are planning two non-gaming properties for Dubai and now they are extending their expansion with a new venue in Mexico. The company plans on building the facility along the Puerto Los Cabos coast, a popular resort area located on the Baja California Peninsula.
The new resort will be home to 500 hotel rooms and suites with beverage and food options on site, plus an entertainment venue, convention center, golf courses, spa, and more. In a statement this week, Caesars stated that they chose this particular area due to the rise in airline passengers in the region over the past few years. A 40% increase has been seen with the majority of visitors coming from the US and Canada.
It was last year the Caesars announced they were planning on looking into an expansion with locations in the US and abroad. The company is looking to move outside their core casino gambling brand and focus on creating a global footprint in the non-gaming sector, with properties located in destinations that are attractive to tourists.
On top of the Dubai projects and recent Mexico announcement, the company is also in discussions with the Queensland government. Discussions are centered around an integrated resort for Australia. If the government provides approval, Caesars would create a resort that would include casino gaming. Supposedly, pitches are being made to see the project come to life, with the Head of International Development having recently met with Gold Coast tourism officials.
It will be interesting to see how the company fares as they branch out into a new realm of resort construction, without the help of casino gaming.
