The first inaugural Sunday Million Live just recently finished up with 5,045 players competing in the event. King’s Casino of Rozvadov hosted the event, a venue that is quickly becoming a hot spot for major poker Tournaments. In the end, there could only be one winner and the first ever champion of the event is German poker player Philipp Salewski, earning €111,674 for the win.
As Day 1 took place, the large field of competitors would be cut down to just 512. Each of these players would return the next day to see only 27 returning for Day 3 of game play. During the final day, Andrei Kurdyukov would hold the chip lead with 13.5 million of the chips in play. Salewski sat second in chips with roughly half the amount of Kurdyukov’s stack.
The final table would consist of nine players and once the table was narrowed down to the final four, a break was taken to negotiate a deal. The four players agreed to chop the pot and leave €10,000 for the winner. Karel Kovarik would be eliminated in 4th soon after the deal was made followed by Jozef Komorny in 3rd place.
This would leave Salewski and Dominic Kabas to compete for the first-place win. Kabas held the chip lead initially, but after earning a few small pots, Salewski would eventually take the lead.
On the final hand, Kabas would go all in with K-7 off-suite with Salewski quick calling with A-J of spades. The board fell 3-4-4-4-Q which did nothing for either player but the higher kicker of Salewski helped him earn the first-place title and the extra €10,000 in cash! Surprisingly, the win was actually the largest ever for Salewski during a live event. His previous big win was just over $10,000. The pro now has a new record win to his name and bragging rights to being the first ever PokerStars Sunday Live Million winner.
