An interesting story popped up at Poker Listings today involving John Juanda, Richard Yong and €50k.
John Juanda, a former Full Tilt Poker owner, is still doing well despite the FTP losses. The pro was competing recently in the €50k High Roller event in Cannes when he busted out. Juanda was short on cash, but was bought back in after Richard Yong stepped in. WSOP.com had this to say on the incident:
“Richard Yong just cracked John Juanda’s aces with pocket fives. The board ran out in favor of Yong to give him an eight-high straight. “After busting for the second time, Juanda said he wanted to rebuy, but also said he didn’t have any money on deposit. Yong, who was high-fiving his friends after hitting the straight, yelled out, ‘I’ll buy you in! I’ll buy you in!’ and tossed €50,000 over the table to Juanda.”
Many Full Tilt Poker pros have suffered after the site was shut down, but it seems that Juanda is doing just fine. The pro was able to enter the high roller event and then received the funds from Yong to be able to continue. It’s nice to have friends who can spot a cool €50k! If only we all had such friends! The event continues so it will be interesting to see if Juanda will be able to continue and if Yong will still remain as well!
