Hard Rock International is the new owner of the former Trump Taj Mahal Casino of Atlantic City and the company has big plans for the gaming venue. A total of $500 million will be spent to transform the property from the gaudy design first created by Donald Trump in the 1990s to the popular rock ‘n’ roll theming the brand is famous for. According to recent reports, Hard Rock International has plans to revamp the property but also include new gaming options like fantasy sports.
A document was recently reported on by The Associated Press and obtained by Legal Sports Report where it indicates that the company is interested in offering daily fantasy sports options. The document discussed the plans for gaming at the Hard Rock AC venue and includes mention of Fantasy Sports. In the document, Hard Rock says that they believe Fantasy Sports will help to enhance the customer experience as well as allow the casinos in New Jersey to stay competitive as other jurisdictions already offer this type of gaming.
Hard Rock goes on to state that they feel the option would increase gross gaming revenues and appeal to the Millennial generation. It seems the document is requesting reassurance from the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement in that offering fantasy sports contests would be a legal activity based on state law.
Paid-entry fantasy sports contests are considered legal in the state by regulators. Resorts is an operator of Atlantic City who is currently trying to offer a product in this gaming category with the title Fast Pick. Legislators of the state have been working on a bill that would legalize such gaming options formally as well as creating regulations for operators and setting tax rates.
Information as to exactly what Hard Rock wishes to offer in regards to Fantasy Sports gaming has yet to be revealed.
