According to Casino authorities, the jackpot had been building up and reached the $1.2 million mark hours before a Clearwater local hit the biggest earnings as the end of the year approached.
A holiday dream came true to the winner, Gloria, who didn’t provide her last name for obvious reasons. She recalled her story claiming that she bet $50 on the progressive slot, feeling that her odds were gradually edging over the winning end.
She was right.

Although the news came at a very particular time of the year, Gloria’s win was far from the biggest among slot machine jackpots earned in US casino history. In 2020, a player in Las Vegas hit $15.5 million on the progressive slot. The man was playing at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino.
Although no major win compares to the 2003 $39.7-million jackpot recorded at the Megabucks terminal on the Excalibur Hotel & Casino, other major successes have made the headlines. Gloria’s was just the icing on the cake for a perfect Christmas story.
The Seminole have made the front-page multiple times this year, not all for the right reasons. The tribe is currently in the middle of a legal battle to defend the terms of their compact with the Florida State government over the passing of several amendments that would allow for various major sportsbooks to offer sports betting as a service throughout state territory.
