With 2016 coming to an end, we are all looking forward to what 2017 will bring. For poker players, this means a new edition of the World Series of Poker! The WSOP rolls around every May and officials have now announced key details for the 2017 series.
For 2017, the World Series of Poker will take place yet again at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino of Nevada. The series will begin on the 30th of May and will continue until the 17th of July when the final table of the Main Event is determined.
Ty Stewart, the Executive Director for the World Series of Poker, commented on the new season by stating that the WSOP wants to wish everyone Happy Holidays and best wishes for a safe and successful 2017. The WSOP is busy working to finalize the full schedule for next year and anticipate that 2017 will be a similar series to 2016 with a ‘few new wrinkles’. Stewart assured that a broad array of options will be included to satisfy everyone who participates.
The 2017 WSOP will be set for 49 days of competition and the full schedule of events has yet to be announced. However, several events were announced as returning to the schedule for next year including the Little One for One Drop, Monster Stack and the Millionaire Maker. The Colossus event is a popular one that will return, taking place from the 2nd to the 4th of June with two starting flights and a $565 entry fee. The WSOP for 2017 will also include Ladies championship and Seniors championship events.
The World Series of Poker has plans to release the full schedule by February, though an exact date is unknown. It is believed that as many as 70 and possibly more bracelet events will be placed on the schedule.
