When going to the casino, one doesn’t assume it will turn in to an action movie, with masked men entering the gaming floor, but that is exactly what happened this past Monday at the Caesars Atlantic City in New Jersey. As if the casinos in Atlantic City are not suffering enough, with declining revenues and casino closings, they must now content with masked robbers.
In a report by USA Today, it was stated that two individuals wearing masks robbed the casino for over $180,000 this past Monday and now a manhunt is on for the thieves capture. According to the report, the suspects came into the casino around six in the morning on Monday and one of the individuals pulled out a gun. It was at this point the money was stolen as the gun toting individual took two plastic boxes that held the cash. The robbers then ran from the scene and took a getaway car.
Since the robbery took place inside the casino, the New Jersey State Police Gaming Bureau is heading up the investigation. This is not the first time a casino has been robbed in the US and most certainly won’t be the last. Despite the security that is used in casinos, criminals still believe they can get away with the act. It was just a few years ago that the famous Bellagio Craps Robbery took place with Anthony Carleo finally being arrested after taking casino chips from the craps table.
For now, officials are using what they know to try and find the two individuals involved in the heist. In the meantime, casinos in the area will most likely be beefing up security in the hopes that the robbers do not strike again. We will continue to cover the story and report any information as it is released by Caesars or the officials involved.
