No matter where you live, if a new casino is opening up in your area, you get excited. A new casino means new entertainment options, new food to try and just new fun. However, imagine this same scenario but with an added twist, you are banned from the casino. This would be horrible but is exactly what citizens of Vietnam are dealing with.
CardPlayer recently covered a story on the subject of a new casino opening up in Vietnam in 2013. The new casino project was announced and the Ministry of Finance has stated that only foreigners as well as Vietnamese gamblers living in other countries will be able to enjoy the gaming options at the new casino.
The Tuoi Tre News initially reported this story and it essentially means that the tens of millions of people living in the area will not be allow to enjoy the gambling activities. However, they will be able to visit the restaurants and non-gambling activities tat the casino will offer.
The new project is going to cost around $4 billion and will be conducted by Asian Coast Development Ltd, which is located in Canada. The new property will be managed by MGM Resorts International of Nevada and will be located on a beachfront area.
This will be the first time that the country will offer a gambling destination and there are plans in the works for four more large scale luxury resorts to be added to the area. Despite the addition of gambling establishments in the near future, the rules for residents are quite odd. It will be interesting to see if locals will stay away from the gambling facility after it is completed or if they will try to find ways around the rules and get inside!
