A Las Vegas-based game developer is adding to its portfolio of cashless gaming solutions by acquiring ACS’s cashless table game product called PlayOn. Although financial details about the deal were not disclosed, we know several things about the product.
The PlayOn is a series of cashless gaming products that will allow bettors to use debit cards to get money at live table games. Once the product is added to the scientific games suite, PlayOn will go by AToM, which stands for Access To on Demand Money.
Scientific Games released a statement in line with the acquisition of PlayOn. The game developer said AToM will allow players to get their money at a live table game without leaving their seats.
Moreover, a player’s financial institution will not charge out-of-network transaction fees. Players will swipe their debit cards and enter their PIN to get their funds.
The Las Vegas-based company’s decision to acquire PlayOn comes when cashless gaming is booming across the country. With the spread of the Coronavirus, financial markets are more receptive to go cashless, with more people opting for the companies that provide these capabilities.
Scientific Games Is Expanding Its Fintech Footprint
Scientific Games is popularly known as a slot machine designer. With it recently selling its OpenBet sports betting business to Endeavor Group Holdings, it might be true the brand likes focusing on manufacturing slot machines. But, with the sale of its sports betting business and divestment of its Lottery unit, Scientific Games is turning its focus on technology and digital gaming.
Buying ACS PlayOn is not in line with the company’s effort to bolster its technology footprint. But, with land-based casinos going for cashless gaming due to the Coronavirus, it is a good financial decision for the Scientific Games.
By going cashless, land-based casino operators are helping curb the spread of the COVID-19. These operators are improving the safety protocols and even referring to cash as “outdated.”
Acquiring AToM Is a Good Deal for the Company
Scientific Games has been dealing with table games and similar digital concepts for a while now. This means buying AToM made sense to the company. According to Scientific Games, AToM will help grow the power of table games and other utility products such as i-Deal Plus and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. The product will do this by creating a fast, fun, and stress-free experience for players.
The AToM is available at 20 gaming properties in Nevada, California, and New Mexico, serving over 600 table games. This new deal is sent in less than two months.
At the end of August, Scientific Games announced it was buying Sideplay Entertainment to add to its online lottery portfolio. The company signed the purchase agreement on August 23, 2021, but is yet to get the final regulatory approval.
With the innovative portfolio of digital games packed within Sideplay and Scientific Games’ expertise in distribution technology, acquiring Sideplay Entertainment will help grow the brand’s iLottery solution in the market.
Sideplay has launched over 270 instant win games for various lottery and gambling operators in the world. These games have been played more than 100 million times, creating significant revenue for Sideplay’s clients.
