Back in August, poker pro Phil Hellmuth took part in Poker Night in America’s King of the Hill competition. Hellmuth was able to outlast the field of players to earn the title win after facing off against Daniel Cates in heads-up play. In October, Hellmuth will have the opportunity to defend his title as Poker Night in America has announced the second edition of the tournament challenge.
October 6th and 7th will see the King of the Hill challenge take place at the Rivers Casino located in Pennsylvania. The last competition, which took place on the 22nd and 23rd of August, was hosted by the Rivers Casino & Resort of New York.
Players participating in the 2nd edition of King of the Hill will have to post the $50,000 buy-in. Only four players compete in the challenge for a winner-takes-all format with $200,000 up for grabs for the last player standing.
King of the Hill winner Phil Hellmuth will be participating in the event this October along with Olivier Busquet, Shaun Deeb and Parker Talbot. Olivier Busquet is quite the live tournament player, having earned over $7 million in his career. The pro has earned wins in EPT and WPT events.
Shaun Deeb is a WSOP gold bracelet holder and has earned close to $3 million in live tournament during his career. Parker Talbot, also known as ‘tonkaaaa’ online, became known in the poker community via his channel on Twitch. After gaining fame online, the player was signed as an ambassador of 888poker.
King of the Hill is a heads-up challenge and Poker Night in America has yet to announce who will face who during the semi-final round of Day 1. It will be interesting to see how the players fare and if Hellmuth will be able to maintain the title of King of the Hill.
