The World Poker Tour announced yesterday that they have plans to end the current season back in Las Vegas. The season-ender will take place at the Aria Casino of Las Vegas and be known as the WPT Tournament of Champions Festival, running from May 17th until the 26th. The festival will include the WPT Tournament of Champions along with the WPT Bobby Baldwin Classic main event.
The Bobby Baldwin Classic is an event named after Bobby Baldwin, the COO and President of the Aria, who is also a member of the Poker Hall of Fame and the 1978 main event winner of that year’s WSOP. In commenting on the event and the WPT festival as a whole, Director of Poker Operations for the Aria, Sean McCormack stated that the Aria takes great pride in hosting the season-ender and will offer a ‘tremendous festival of events’ with the WPT Bobby Baldwin Classic premiere being a highlight.
The Festival will begin with a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em event and include four high roller events, each having a $25,000 buy-in. The festival will also include a Super High Roller Tournament with a $100,000 buy-in.
The Bobby Baldwin Classic will be the main event and has a buy-in of $10,000. This tournament will start on May 20th and continue until the 23rd. The first-place finisher will earn a spot in the WPT Tournament of Champions which will begin on the 24th. Every winner from the main tour events of the WPT season 16 will be competing in the Champions event along with any WPT champion from any season prior who decides to pay the $15,000 buy-in to compete.
