This past Monday was the deadline for companies to send in the paperwork needed to file for online gaming licensing in the state of New Jersey. The Division of Gaming Enforcement in the state has now reported that they have received thirty-seven applications and will now have to wait until approval is given by regulators of the state.
David Rebuck is the Division of Gaming Enforcement Director and he released a statement on the subject which read:
“We see this as the first round of filings and we expect that more applications will be filed as the start of internet gaming moves closer. The July 29th deadline does not preclude someone from filing for a license in the future. All proposals will be considered as they are received.”
Though the state will not be announcing the names of the thirty-seven companies who applied for licensing, many partnerships have already been announced via the companies themselves. As of now, there are twelve casinos in Atlantic City and ten have partnered with an online gaming company. Revel and Atlantic Club Casino are the two who have yet to announce who they will be working with.
Those mentioned in partnerships include: PokerStars, Ultimate Gaming, 888 Holdings and bwin.party. The Resorts Casino Club will be working with PokerStars while bwin.party will be working with the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort has partnered with Ultimate Gaming and Caesars Entertainment Corp will be working with 888 Holdings.
As we reported last week, 2UP Gaming is working with an investment group from Asia to begin the purchasing process of a casino in the gambling city so they can enter the online gambling market, so basically the group will be working with Revel or Atlantic Club, though neither has been confirmed.
The state of New Jersey is the third in the United States to have online gambling options approved and now it is only a matter of time before the option becomes a reality.
