The 2007 World Series of Poker Circuit’s event at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City is now complete. The event brought 244 poker players that created a prize pool of $1.19 million and paid out the top 27 finishers.
22-year-old John Racener came all the way back after heading into the heads up play on the short end of a 2:1 chip count. For the win Racener earned 379,392, a $10,000 seat into the 2008 WSOP championship event, and the gold WSOP Circuit trophy ring.
John started off his career with a third place finish in this event last year while celebrating his 21st birthday. After that he added 10 more cashes to his resume but after this win, he excitedly admitted,
“I needed the money because I don’t work.â€Â
Going into the heads up play it was Eric Buchman that held a dominating 2:1 chip lead. Racener began chipping away and went ahead when he flopped top pair versus Buchman’s second pair. It took two more hands for all the chips to get in the middle pre-flop, Racener with AK and Buchman A9. Racener flopped two pair and even though the river gave Buchman twp pair it was not enough and John Racener was crowned this years WSOP Circuit champ.
