It was announced this week that the Asian Poker Tour will be returning this year and will begin in the Philippines on May 27th through the first of June. This year’s schedule has four events that will be held in the Philippines, Macau, Singapore and South Korea. The dates and venues for the other three events have not been announced as of yet.
Players will be glad to hear that each event will offer a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and online players can qualify to win seats for each event and possibly be able to sit by their favorite poker pro. During last year’s tournaments several poker pros entered and tried their hand at the new Tour.
The Asian Poker Tour announced in recent press release that the opening part of the Tour will consist of World-class standards and over 400 players are expected to attend the Philippines event. For that event the buy-in is $2,500 and the other events should have the same buy-in amount.
The Asian Poker Tour has been taken over by ESL-Asia, a subsidiary of AsianLogic, and will be handling the brand management and also the organization of the land based and online tournament events. Chris Parker, AsianLogic CEO, has stated that from the four events this year, the Company hopes to expand for next year and create six events for the 2009 season.
Parker stated: “The Asian Poker Tour will definitely be a top-class brand. This is such an exciting time for poker players in Asia and we feel that with our expertise and skills, we can make the APT a bigger and better series of events each year.â€Â
