The 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event has ended and the winner of the event was an online qualifier, not a poker pro that many would imagine. Two online qualifiers were the dominating players at the final table of the main event as they faced poker pros for the chance to win the $2,000,000 first place prize.
The two poker players earned their spot at the Aussie Millions Main Event by qualifying via Party Poker. twenty seven year old Federik Jensen of Copenhagen earned the second place finish while twenty three year old Tyron Krost of Sydney earned the first place win. Both players played quite well during the tournament even taking down and surpassing seasoned poker pros in the process.
Krost is currently working for his family in their own office furniture business in Sydney but he now may look to enter the poker circuit after his large win. He commented on the tournament by stating: “This is totally unbelievable – it is beyond my wildest dreams. If it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up! In total I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to turn that into AUD$2,000,000! I got some really good spots on the final table. When I needed a hand I seemed to get it.”
“It just hasn’t sunk in at all how much money I have just won. I have no idea what I am going to with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this.”
The Main Event tournament had 749 players participating 43 of which were Party Poker qualifiers. Poker pros were included in the players participating and in an interesting turn of events Krost knocked out Gus Hansen, one of the pros competing. Why is this interesting you ask? Well Krost was knocked out of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event by Hansen so now he got his turn to take out the pro.
Krost had come into heads up play with a large chip lead so it would not be long before the first big pot would be a go and it would be the last.  Krost has earned the title win to a massively popular tournament series in the final hand of play with a K-9. Jensen held K-6 but Krost’s 9 kicker was enough to claim the win with only a K-3-2-7-2 on the board.
