Tom Marchese Beats Andrew Robl For WPT Super High Roller Crown!

The World Poker Tour’s $100,000 Super High Roller Championship concluded just minutes ago in Las Vegas, with Tom Marchese ending up victorious in a grueling heads up battle with fellow poker pro Andrew Robl.

At one point in the match Robl had nearly a 2 to 1 chip lead over Marchese when heads up play began. However, as the blinds crept to $125k/$250k Marchese wrestled away the lead from the former Victory Poker pro within the hour.

On the final hand of the match, Robl put his tournament life on the line and made a stand with a modest A 4 offsuit as his opponent flipped up pocket 8’s. The board ran out Tc 8d 5h Jh Qs, with Tom Marchese securing control of the hand and the tournament with a set of 8’s on the flop.

The following is a list of the final 6 competitors at the tv final table for the WPT Super High Roller, along with their payouts.

1st: Tom Marchese – $1,308,405
2nd: Andrew Robl – $822,375
3rd: John Juanda – $526,320
4th: Daniel Perper – $394,740
5th: Bill Klein – $263,160

On a sidenote, tournament phenom Justin Bonomo would bubble this event in 6th place, just weeks after he took down first place in the EPT Grand Final Super High Roller event that saw him win over $2 million. The total amount of players that entered this WPT event was only 34, but at a $100,000 buyin the prize pool swelled quickly to $3.4 million.

The $25K WPT Championship tv final table starts filming tomorrow afternoon, with live updates beginning at 3:15 from the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Check out www.WorldPokerTour.com for live video of the event as well!
