The 2012 World Series of Poker is in full swing and after only five days, five events are already in progress! Phil Ivey is back in action after taking off during the 2011 WSOP and other top poker pros are vying for their next or first WSOP bracelet. The series is already setting up to be fantastic and it has just begun!
The 43rd annual WSOP kicked off with the usual Casino Employees event this past Sunday and by Day 2 Event #2 was ready to begin. The $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event is now down to the final 15 and we will bring the results of this event as it concludes!
Tuesday May 29th saw event #3 and Event #4 kick off. Event #3 is a Heads UP No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha tournament with a buy-in of $3,000. Event #4 was a Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better event with a buy-in of $1,500 and both events will run for three days. Event #5 kicks off today at 12:00 PM and will be a Pot-Limit Hold’em event with a buy-in of $1,500.
Event #2 will conclude very soon as it is now down to the last sixteen players. Jacob Bazeley holds the chip lead with 1,291,000 with Ryan Schmidt not far behind with 1,193,000. JP Kelly and Vanessa Selbst, both favorites among poker fans, are both in the top five chip leaders. Selbst holds 706,000 with Kelly just ahead with 721,000 chips.
This event is set to resume today at 1:00 PM Local Time and once the final table is decided, fans who are not at the Rio can watch the action as it unfolds at WSOP.com.
