By Day 7, the Main Event of the 2012 World Series of Poker is down to the final nine. On the final day, 18 players were eliminated and now the final nine players have been named. The event will now take a break and will return on October 28th when play will resume. The players will now be able to practice and prepare to try and win the most coveted gold bracelet in the WSOP in three months time.
The chip leader is Jesse Sylvia and he was able to take a huge lead of over 14 million chips to the next player by playing aggressively. Next in line is Andras Koroknai who is the only player left in the final nine who is not from the US. Koroknai hails from Hungary and was able to finish in second place for the final nine.
Greg Merson was able to finish in third place in chips and he has already cashed out in four of the seven WSOP events he has competed in, as well as earning one WSOP bracelet in the process. Russell Thomas earned the fourth spot in chips and hopes to do better than last year’s Main Event finish of 248th place.
Steven Gee took the fifth spot and is the oldest finalist of the final table. He is the only other player to have earned a WSOP gold bracelet. Michael Esposito took the sixth spot and right behind Michael is Robert Salaburu who is seventh in chips.
Jacob Balsiger earned the eighth spot and the Arizona State University student has just one year left in college and if he wins the Main Event he will be the youngest champion of the WSOP Main Event history. Jeremy Ausmus earns the final spot with the smallest chip stack and has cashed out nine times in WSOP events this year and is hoping to earn one more big cash out!
The action is finally over, for now, and will not resume for three months. We now have time to learn about each player that will sit down at the final table in October and we will keep you well informed as the event comes back in a few months!
