The 2016 Super High Roller Bowl is not set to take place until three months from now but that has not stopped players from registering for the tournament. Only 49 seats were available and already the event has sold out. Hosted by the Aria Hotel and Casino of Las Vegas, Nevada, the list of players to take part in the event includes the best of the best in the poker industry.
2015 Super High Roller Bowl winner Brian Rast is just one of many top pros who will be hitting the felt to compete for the top prize and this year’s bragging rights. Additional players to compete include Dan Smith, Dan Colman, Fedor Hholz and Scott Seiver. Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel and Antonio Esfandiari will also be taking part in the event. The total list includes 47 names as the final two will be given to VIPs of the Aria Casino.
CEO of Poker Central, Clint Stinchcomb, stated that the speed in which the event sold out shows the popularity of the Super High Roller Bowl as well as poker itself. With exciting and famous players locked in to compete already, Stinchcomb feels the event will be riveting to watch.
During the tournament, a shot clock will be enforced. Players will have a total of 40 seconds to act and then will have five time banks of 60 seconds each that can be used to extend decision time. For this year, the event will have a buy-in of $300,000 and will offer $15,000,000 in prize money guaranteed.
Many were quite surprised that the tournament sold out so quickly as they missed out on being able to compete. Registration opened on the 22nd of January and in just a few weeks, players found themselves without the option to compete.
The tournament will take place beginning on the 29th of May and will continue until the 1st of June. The event will begin with seven seven-handed tables and the final seven players will earn a payday. First place will go home with $5,000,000 in prize money.
