2018 Poker Masters Main Event - David Peters Wins $1.15 Million

After a five-hour-long session that lasted between the last three players, David Peters finally managed to complete what he had started two days ago as a chip leader – he managed to regain the chip lead and eventually become the winner of 2018 Poker Masters $100,000 Main Event. Peters won a great sum of $1,150,000 in this event, which is the highest sum in all 2018 PM events.

He managed to beat Bryn Kenney, Koray Aldemir, and then finally Dan Smith in the heads-up play. It was a sweet victory for Peters who added a new million to his already nice sum of $4.6 million that he had previously won during the live poker tournaments. It was a great closure for him as he managed to win the first and the last event of 2018 PM, giving a nice conclusion to his great play during the whole tournament.

Sadly, Peters did not receive the honor of wearing the Purple Jacket, which is considered the highest prize in the Poker Masters tournaments. Purple Jacket belonged to Ali Imsirovic who played great during the previous events and had back-to-back wins during the Event #5 and Event #6.

The official paytable for the Main Event is really interesting. The second-placed player is Dan Smith and he won a total of $700,000. Right after him is Koray Aldemir with $400,000. The fourth place is taken by Bryn Kenney who won a total of $250,000.

The final day saw Peters having a small lead in chips compared to Dan Smith, but Kenney and Aldemir struggled to keep up with the two of them. In fact, Kenney failed to find a double and was finally cast out of the game by Aldemir’s queen-jack against his queen-ten. Nevertheless, Kenney was pretty satisfied with his performance and stated that he thought he did a great job in the tournament and that it was all he cared about.

This naturally opened a way for Smith and Peters to play the heads-up battle, but Aldemir became a threat to them at one point as he had managed to find a double while flipping against Smith. This opened up a way for a grind that lasted for about five hours.

In fact, Aldemir came to the point where he was just one card away from having the chip lead but it was all in vain as Smith secured his stack. At that point, Aldemir started losing his momentum, hitting the rail eventually. He stated that he was a bit disappointed with his play and that he had made a couple of rookie mistakes.

Be that as it may, the heads-up between Peters and Smith started, as everyone expected at the beginning of the final table. Peters gained the lead at the start and eventually managed to send Smith to the rail.
