The 888poker LIVE Bucharest Main Event has come to an end, and Darius Neagoe made it to first place. He has managed to keep the trophy in Romania, as the previous main event was also won by his fellow countryman Andrei Racolta. Neagoe has fought a fierce battle against his opponents in one of the biggest poker events in Romania. His heads-up opponent was Bogdan Nicolae, who is also Romanian. The two of them had an exciting all-Romanian finale, and it all ended up with Neagoe taking the main prize.

The whole thing was hosted by 888poker and Pokerfest Romania, and it took place at the InterContinental Bucharest. There were a total of 505 entries, which was a lot more than expected. They managed to surpass the guaranteed prize pool of €387,638. Furthermore, there were more players compared to last year, when a total of 469 entries applied. The buy-in required to enter the main event was €888.
Neagoe managed to win a total of €62,300, while his heads-up opponent had a total of €59,900. Before they started battling for the trophy, they actually made a deal and split the money. However, the winner also received an additional award which was courtesy of 888poker. Namely, Neagoe received a 2019 WSOP Main Event package worth $12,600. It seems that we already know one of the participants of the 2019 WSOP Main Event — Dariu Neagoe.
Who Are Neagoe and Nicolae?
Neagoe may not ring a bell when it comes to playing poker, but both he and his heads-up opponent are actually accomplished online poker players. Neagoe has managed to win a total of $563,000 in online cashes, while Nicolae made an astounding $1,860,000 from playing poker online. Furthermore, Nicolae had a lot of success playing poker in tournaments and managed to make it to 13th place in the same tournament last year.
It seems that this tournament was mainly occupied by Romanian players. Although they were the majority, people from all over the world came to Romania to take part in this tournament. In fact, a total of six nationalities were present in the final table of the main event, including Zhiping Zeng, a Chinese player who not only lives in Romania but speaks Romanian fluently. Zeng was right behind the first two players and managed to win a total of €33,960.
Other players who made it to the final table include Mihai Gheonu, Helder Ferreira, Nicolae Suciu, Ran Shahar, Derek Reid, and Aldo Monteleone. Players who did not make it to the final table but deserve to be mentioned include Toni Judet, Radu Lungu, Bogdan Berinde, Sergiu Cornea, Ozgur Arda, Peter Jaksland, Mihai Niste, and Danut Chisu.
The tournament has been quite popular this year, and it seems that its popularity will keep growing in the years to come.
