Liv Boeree, professional poker player and Absolute Poker ambassador, looks to conquer Poker News Cup atop the mountains of Austria
Miami, FL March 18, 2009 – Absolute Poker’s Liv Boeree is getting ready to conquer the poker tables and the ski slopes, all in one shot. The online poker pro is heading to the 5-star Hotel Alpine Palace, located atop the majestic mountains of Austria, for the 2009 PokerNews Cup Alpine.
“I am so excited to be going to the PokerNews Cup to represent Absolute Poker,†stated Liv Boeree. “A week of skiing and poker in the Austrian Alps? What more could I ever want?â€Â
While Boeree dismisses the prospect of winning the tournament as a reason for playing in the event, with a number of recent wins under her belt the Absolute Poker ambassador looks to be a major contender in the Austrian tournament. Most recently, Boeree made the final table in Event #7 of the 2009 Aussie Millions poker series. Her 7th place finish among a field of 449 players netted the poker pro $18,900 AUD (about $13,000 USD).
In a little over two years, Liv Boeree has secured multiple top-10 finishes in a number of first place wins in Texas Hold’em tournaments across London. In May 2008, Boeree claimed the top spot in the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship, besting a field of 53 players for $30,000 in cash and positioning herself as a top female poker player.
Boeree won’t be the only Absolute Poker player attending the first-class poker tournament. The online poker site recently ran satellites guaranteeing a number of $8,000 PokerNews Cup prize packages. Qualifiers for the Super Satellite started at just $10+1, a small price that attracted a large mix of players.
The 2009 PokerNews Cup Alpine tournament poker series gets underway on March 21, 2009.
