His main opponent in the heads-up play was a native Australian player named Travis Endersby who was very determined to win the event as he already had significant success on the several poker tournaments in the past two weeks, winning a couple of big scores. In fact, everybody expected Endersby to win since he had the least in chips when the final table began and managed to double it up three times during the final table play. He won a total of A$82,695 w,hich was a nice addition to the A$6,640 that he had managed to win in an event called Shot Clock Shootout that happened earlier in the week.
The Final Table Play
A total of seven players managed to get to the final table, and Ali Ghezelbash from Australia was the first one to hit the rail as the seventh, winning a total of A$12.385. Despite the fact that he ended up seventh, he was content since that was his first cash in almost two years. Shortly after that, he was followed by Michel Bouskila in sixth place with A$17,960. Bouskila was beat by Endersby, who managed to double up his chip stack over him and sent him to the rail.
The next player to go down was Gautam Dhingra from Australia, who managed to win $24,930 in total, leaving four players competing for the first prize in the final table.
But before that, Endersby decided to strike once again and he doubled up over Ta-Wei Tou from Taiwan. Endersby had a queen-king, and Tou had an ace-king. However, a queen on the river managed to turn the tides and Endersby was on top. In fact, Tou hit the rail as fourth, shortly after Dhingra, and managed to win A$36,080.
The third place was reserved for Ong Dingxiang from Singapore, who entered the final table as the chip leader but remained pretty much quiet throughout the play. He was eliminated shortly after Tou and took home a nice prize of A$48,905.
Endersby was once again the one to benefit from the players being sent to the rail, and he entered the heads-up play with 3:1 lead in chips against Lybaert. But Lybaert was tactful and played with the right amount of aggression, timing his plays just right to slowly regain the lead. In the end, Lybaert was the one to celebrate and managed to win not only the first cash prize but also an Aussie Millions ANTON Championship Ring as a trophy from winning this event.
