Elisabeth Hille is a top poker pro that did quite well in this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event. Hille was so close to becoming the first woman to reach the Final Table of the WSOP Main Event since 1995 but finished in 11th place. Both Hille and Gaelle Baumann, who finished in 10th, were so close to reaching this goal but in the end it was not to be. However, Hille’s performance was not to be forgotten and Hille has now signed a poker deal with online poker room Betfair Poker.
Betfair announced the news of Hille signing with the site before the event was over. Betfair commented in a press release: “Betfair Poker is proud to announce that they have captured the signature of young Norwegian poker player Elisabeth Hille as a Team Betfair Ambassador.”
Hille is just twenty six years old and was working as a waitress in Norway before she began her poker career. Hille had played as an amateur poker player for the past few years and decided to enter in to the Main Event because her boyfriend posted half of her buy-in.
Hille’s boyfriend is Harald Olsen, a regular at Betfair Poker and the decision to post half the stake was a good one since Hille finished in 11th place and earned just over $590,000 for the finish. Hille commented on her feelings of the game of poker by stating: “Poker is a very misunderstood game in Norway. I’d love it if more Norwegian girls got into poker because most of it is all online right now. I fell in love with the game straight away.”
Hille now joins other top pros at Betfair including Peter Eastgate and Hans Vogl. Hille will now be representing the site in live events and will be competing online as well.
