After finishing in fifth place during the Triton Super High Roller Series Macau Main Event, poker pro Dietrich Fast continued his high roller efforts by competing in the PokerStars Asia Championship of Poker securing a final table seat and eventually the first place win. The event had a buy-in of HK$800,000 and with 79 players competing, the competition would be tough. Eventually, Fast would outlast the field and earn HK$16,690,000 for his efforts.
When final table play began, Fast would have one of the larger chip stacks. Everyone thought the win would go to Timothy Adams, who held a nice lead, but he would have to settle for third place. Once three way play began, Adams had the chip lead but soon lost it to Fast and then eventually was knocked out by the pro with Q-9 on his final hand of the event.
Once the tournament dwindled down to the final two, Fast would take on Steve O’Dwyer in heads-up play. When heads-up play began, Fast would hold a 5 to 1 chip lead. Early on, O’Dwyer would double up but it wouldn’t be enough to take the lead. On the final hand, O’Dwyer was all-in with 9-3 off-suit and was quick-called by Fast who held A-8 off-suit. With a 9-A-8-3-J board, Fast’s two pair were better and earned him the first place win.
