In November 2013, the state of Delaware began to record statistics in regards to online gaming earnings in the state, due to the industry just getting started. Since that time, Delaware Park has held the top position as the number one earner for the state by way of gaming revenues. Now, for the very first time, Dover Downs has been able to take the higher position, and earn more revenues than Delaware Park, according to the September financial figures.
Dover Downs was able to take the title as the number one online gambling operator in the state for the month of September, having earned $109,005.73 for September. Online poker contributed $19,466.82 for the gaming venue which is a one of the highest totals to date for such gaming in the state.
It was most likely the Delaware Poker Championship that took place in early September that drove the gaming venue to new heights in revenue earnings. Gamblers who took part in the tournament events would have taken part in online gaming as they enjoyed their live game play, during breaks or in-between tournaments.
Delaware Park earnings were significantly lower than Dover Downs, with $76,997.97 earned for the month in overall gaming totals. The gaming venue brought in $13,798.50 for poker, just over $50,000 with video lottery gaming and $12,579.50 with table games. Not far behind was Harrington, which earned $59,139.18 total with poker earning just $1,388.83 while table games brought in just over $12,000.
While Dover Downs saw excellent revenue numbers, the overall totals for the state were less than stellar. September only earned $229,185.03 which is a decrease from last month’s earnings of $244,387. This is the third straight month that the state has seen a decline in monthly revenues. On the bright side, the September totals are 47% higher for 2016 than the same month in 2015, when only $156,125.74 was earned.
