Espen Jorstad and Roman Romanovskyi Win the First 2023 PokerStars WCOOP Titles

The 2023 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) kicked off on a high note last weekend. It attracted popular poker players like Espen “Hymn2Ninkasi” Jorstad, the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner. Here are highlights of the Championship’s first two events.

Espen Jorstad Bags the WCOOP 03-H: $3,150 NLHE Progressive KO Title

Jorstad signed up for the event hoping to be among its top finalists. It featured 132 players who formed a $400,000 prize pool.

David Yan and kZhh were the first finalists to leave the table in ninth and eighth place, respectively. Ognyan “cocojamb0” Dimov and bnbm73 exited the event in the seventh and sixth places. 13santoy13 followed them shortly in fifth place with $22,936.

Patrick “pads1161” Leonard’s run ended in the fourth position with $21,748. Pedro “pyigar” Garagnani got busted in third place, setting up a tough match between Jorstad and Dumitry “pora Adrian” Pora. However, Jorstad outsmarted his opponent and sent them packing in second place with a $45,167 payout.

8. kZhh from Hungary-a $7,985 total prize; $750 bounties and a $7,235 prize
9. David “MissOracle” Yan from New Zealand- a $9,337 total prize; $3,375 bounties and a $5,962

Roman Romanovskyi Cashes $203,121 in the WCOOP 04-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller

Romanovskyi scored the largest prize in the ongoing 2023 WCOOP after leading the 85-entry field in the WCOOP 04-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller. It had a $850,000 prize pool and Lex “L.Veldhuis” Veldhuis finished 10th hence setting up the nine-handed final table.

Jans Arends and Tom Macdonald finished ninth and eighth, respectively. Jesper8 and Aleksejs Ponakovs followed them in the seventh and sixth positions after several minutes. Niklas Astedt and flerrhuve’s runs ended in fifth and fourth place.

Benjamin Rolle left the table in third place as Rodrigo Selouan and Romanovsky clashed in a battle of the blinds. However, Selouan lost the title to Romanovsky and finished second with $156,974.
