A new code of conduct has emerged from this year’s European Interactive Gaming Congress and Expo. The new global responsible gambling code of conduct addresses Internet gambling procedures. Top associates from GamCare, e-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance, and the Remote Gaming Association presented the new code. The code is designed to increase player protection by setting a minimum of standards for the industry.
Microgaming hosted an informal industry sit down discussion earlier this year and the code was created during that time. Many areas already provide similar player protection but the new code will be adopted globally to create a more united standard. The new code deals with player protection measures, staff training, advertising and promotions and also underage gambling.
“eCOGRA-certified sites have been required to comply with similar standards for the past few years and, by continually verifying their compliance, we know that these standards are effective when it comes to protecting the players, GamCare hopes that the adoption of this code will better enable the gambling public to make informed decisions with regards to their remote gambling participation, secure in the knowledge that operators are required by condition of license to protect the welfare and enjoyment of their customers,” said Andrew Poole, Managing Director for GamCare Trade Services.
The new code entails thirty specific points about internet gaming and was formally agreed upon during a meeting earlier in the month. This is the sixth annual European Interactive Gaming Congress and Expo and it has taken place in Barcelona.
