Event #3 WSOPE – Hanh Tran Wins €59,625

The third event of the World Series of Poker Europe concluded with Hanh Tran winning the gold bracelet. This is his second bracelet in 2018, which is an outstanding success for a poker player. The name of the event is Event #3: €550 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed. Other players who participated and did well are Oleg Pavlyuchuk, who won €36,851 after losing the heads-up battle against Tran, and Romain Lews, a Frenchmen who ended up in third place with €25,473.

Hanh Tran is a positive guy. At the time he won his first WSOP bracelet in 2018, he just stated that he was there to have fun with his friends and play some poker along the way. Despite the bohemian lifestyle, he still managed to win Event #29: $1,500 2-7 Triple Draw of the World Series of Poker. He is an easy-going Austrian citizen that always brings joy during his hands and likes to play dangerously.

At the moment heads-up battle started, Pavlyuchuk had a 5-1 chip lead. Honestly, many poker players lose hope with such starting results, and these type of heads-ups usually end quickly. But Tran is a fighter and he managed to turn the tides and eventually win the event.

It is not his first time doing so. As a matter of fact, his first bracelet was won in a similar manner. The chip deficit he had at the beginning of the heads up was even higher than this one, but he managed to defeat the opponent nevertheless. That’s the beauty of poker – no matter how bad your current position is, there is still hope to win the hand or even the whole tournament. Hanh Tran is the living proof that poker is a noble game where patience, skills, and persistence play an important role apart from the luck factor.

Tran made a short comment about his play during the heads-up, stating that he knew if he could double-up that there would be a chance to defeat him. He added that he had had experience with being the underdog and that he had also been an underdog in Vegas when he had won his first bracelet.

However, he still doesn’t consider himself a tournament poker player. He stated that he played tournaments mostly for fun, but that they were in general just a waste of time. Tran mostly thinks of himself as a cash gamer.

Nevertheless, he certainly plans to participate in more events during the WSOPE. He is considering taking part in €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha and the Main Event. He stated that he wanted to win the third bracelet and that he was going to play more tournaments in the future. We are certainly going to see more of Tran in the events to come!
