Residents and visitors of New Jersey have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of PokerStars to the online gambling industry of the state. It seems like it has taken forever for the online poker operator to be allowed access into the industry and based on new reports, the brand should be live in New Jersey by this fall.
Speaking with OnlinePokerReport, PokerStars has confirmed that they will be launching by Q3 2015 which would be during the fall season. David Baazov, the CEO of Amaya Gaming, the company behind PokerStars, spoke with investors stating that the site should launch sometime this year and gave his prediction during a conference call discussing the results for 2014 with Amaya as well as the plans for 2015.
If PokerStars is able to launch in the fall it would be a major win for the online poker site as well as poker gaming in the US. PokerStars is a well-known online poker brand and could cause traffic to increase greatly within the state of New Jersey and additional states who allow the brand to enter their online poker market place.
Along with the announcement of the launch, Baazov also announced that plans are in place to double the online poker business in the next five years. A three-pronged strategy was outlined by the CEO in which the brand would be expanding into new markets with more promotions and marketing included. Additional poker products are in the works as well.
PokerStars began offering sports betting at the end of March and additional casino games will be added to the site as well as Full Tilt as the year moves forward. Even though the company plans on offering additional gaming at PokerStars, Baazov reiterated that they are a poker-first business and will build upon and leverage the popularity of the poker brands with operational excellence to be able to deliver future growth.
