The list of candidates up for induction into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame for 2018 has been released. Eleven women are set to be considered for induction by select members of the media along with current members of the Hall of Fame.
Nominations began back in early March and were closed by the 15th. The general public had the opportunity to nominate women they felt deserved to be inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. One vote per IP address could be submitted.
To be accepted for nomination, a candidate would have to be an industry leader in the game or a poker player with 10 years of experience as well as be at least 35 years of age. The individual had to have contributed to the industry in some form or fashion. An example of this would be having won a major event or making a contribution of significance to the industry.
Nominees were approved by the Organization Committee as well as the current members of the group. After the nomination process was complete, the nominees list was reviewed, and the final list created. Included in the nominations are:
- Hermance Blom
- Jennifer Tilly
- Mandy Glogow
- Lupe Soto
- Haley Hintze
- Kara Scott
- Angelica Hael
- Shirley Rosario
- Karina Jett
- Terry King
The voting process will now begin to see which women will be inducted. Each living member of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame as well as media members who have been selected for voting will be given 10 votes each. The votes can be placed on one individual or divided between those nominated as the voter sees fit.
It is not known when the chosen nominees will be announced but we do know the induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas at the Orleans Casino on the 26th of June.
